BIM is seeking a dedicated Commercial Lines Underwriter (Transportation Captive Underwriter) to join our growing team. Position: Commercial Lines Underwriter
Job Type: Hybrid, Full Time, Permanent
Location: Hamilton / Toronto
Pay Range: Starting from $75,000 to $105,000 annually + variable performance compensation
What You Will Do:
- Underwrite and manage a portfolio of medium to large-sized commercial Transportation fleet risks, including new business, renewals, and endorsements
- Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers within your delegated underwriting authority
- Build and maintain strong broker and stakeholder relationships
- Provide expert mentorship to junior underwriters
- Support and suggest enhancements to underwriting guidelines, processes, and workflows
- Represent the company at industry events and broker meetings as needed
- Collaborate across departments to ensure seamless broker and client experiences
- Contribute to the profitable growth of our underwriting portfolio
- Deliver prompt, courteous service to all business partners
What You Bring:
- 3+ years of commercial auto underwriting experience (long-haul trucking preferred)
- CIP designation (preferred or currently working toward it)
- RIBO license (or willingness to obtain)
- Familiarity with domestic carriers and Lloydโs of London markets (an asset)
